Safeguarding your business information

What backup strategies are supported ?

The BUS system supports a range of backup strategies to meet your security requirements, e.g.:

  • A single backup strategy where each backup overwrites the last one;
  • Seven by one day rotating backups, where the last daily becomes the backup for that week;
  • Twelve by one month rotating backups, where the last daily backup of each month becomes the backup for that month
  • Annual backup
  • etc.

Your specific backup strategy is established as part of the initial configuration, and can then be varied at any time.

The standard strategy (i.e. default for new clients) is:

  • Seven by one day rotating backups;
  • The data on the last day of each month provides the monthly backup;
  • The backup on 30 June provides the annual backup.

Note that rotating storage strategies will generally increase the overall amount of storage space used.  The specific amount of growth is highly variable, depending on the individual sizes and types of files backed up, and the number of changes made from day to day.
